GE Aerospace Military Derivative Engine – Performance, Operability, and Controls Leader in West Chester, Ohio

Job Description Summary

The System Performance, Operability, and Controls (SPOCT) leader of the Military derivative engine program will be a member of our Services Engineering organization in the Systems Engineering team. They will partner with the Defense engine military team and our Services engineering team to complete the design and certification effort for a new military derivative of an existing commercial jet engine. This role has a high impact to the GE Aerospace business and for our customer. This individual will work closely with a cross functional team to ensure the new military derivative engine meets all system performance and operability requirements.

Systems engineering is a cross-functional engineering discipline centered on an approach, mindset, and process. All activities consider both the business and the technical needs of the customers with the goal of providing a quality product that meets the users needs.

Job Description

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Apply control theory and mathematical modeling to guide design and control systems with desired behaviors. Includes operability, setting of boundaries, cycle optimization, control logic, control related software, sensors, hardware and software algorithms, and feedback to control the performance of devices, subsystems and systems.

  • Participates in the design, development, and enhancement of technologies in the areas of performance and operability. Can include delivery of customer solutions that properly balance cost and benefit (including architecture, key design trade-offs, flow-down of requirements and flow-up of capability).

  • Learn and develop specialized knowledge in the System Performance, Operability, and Controls (SPOCT) discipline to support design of this critical military application.

  • Provide technical support and guidance for engine certification plan.

  • Serves as best practice/quality resource. Has awareness of latest technical developments in own area. Contributes towards strategy and policy development, and ensure delivery within area of responsibility.

  • Has in-depth knowledge of best practices and how own area integrates with others; has working knowledge of competition and the factors that differentiate them in the market

  • Uses judgment to make decisions or solve moderately complex tasks or problems in areas of operational/product management, manufacturing, technology, or engineering.

  • Uses technical experience and expertise for data analysis to support recommendations. Uses multiple internal and limited external sources outside of own function to arrive at decisions.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science in Engineering from an accredited college or university.

  • At least 6 years of engineering experience.

Desired Characteristics

  • Prior aircraft engine System Performance, Operability, and Controls experience.

  • Strong oral and written communication skills.

  • Strong interpersonal and leadership skills.

  • Demonstrated ability to analyze and resolve problems.

  • Demonstrated ability to lead programs / projects.

  • Established project management skills.
