GE Aerospace Lead Design Engineer - GE90 Fan Composites in West Chester, Ohio

Job Description Summary

This role is for a composites design engineer, who will own composite fan components such as the fan platform, and flow-path spacer for the GE90 engine. In this role you will be accountable for all design aspects of assigned hardware, working within the module team to execute projects to meet business goals and company objectives. In addition to working alongside the GE engineering team, this role will interface with new make production shops and component repair shops, providing necessary support to meet fielded engine overhaul and delivery timelines. The role has some autonomy, but is focused on execution of activities within an operating discipline covered by standard functional practices and procedures. Some judgment may be required but this is typically with guidance.

Job Description

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Execute the design, analysis, or evaluation of assigned projects using sound engineering principles and adhering to business standards, practices, procedures, and product / program requirements.

  • Work with module lead and product service engineering lead to coordinate work scope and priority of assigned work

  • Interface with suppliers and repair shops, collecting necessary information to provide sufficient engineering justifications for deviations and quality issues

  • Work with repair engineering team as necessary to develop, define, and substantiate repairs for fielded hardware

  • Compile and present technical information to program leadership on key projects and issues

  • Develop in-depth knowledge of assigned hardware and composite discipline. Uses prior experience and acquired technical expertise to execute policy/strategy.

  • Develop in-depth understanding of how work of own team integrates with other teams and contributes to achieving program objectives and KPIs

  • Uses some level of judgment and has ability to propose different solutions outside of set parameters but with guidance. Uses prior experience and on-the-job training to solve straightforward tasks. Has access to technical skills and analytic thinking required to solve problems. May use multiple internal sources outside of own team to arrive at decisions.

  • This is an individual contributor role, requiring proven interpersonal skills and ability to give informal guidance to new team members

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering from an accredited university

  • Minimum 3 years' experience in an engineering position

  • Prior experience working with composite materials
