Job Description Summary

GE Aerospace is now a stand-alone company, meeting business Cost/Productivity targets is more important than ever before. The newly stood up Services Engineering Cost Technology team is looking for an Operations leader who will lead and drive team operations strategy and execution effectiveness of the team. This role will require interfacing with cross functional teams at all levels to identify and orchestrate cost opportunities across the company. The role will also require understanding of current capability, potential process gaps and recommend or lead capability/ process improvement. The operations leader will compile, manage and be able to present Cost/Productivity metrics, across the organization at all levels of leadership. Strong analytical acumen with ability to translate data info meaningful information for decision making and familiarity of data systems to extract cost and technical data will be a plus. The operations leader will help the team plan and strategize areas to focus, impact the quality, efficiency, and effectiveness of Engineering Cost/Productivity projects. Familiarity with or ability to learn how to pull and understand data about our product cost, Engineering and manufacturing information is a plus. This role functions with autonomy guided by established policies and through close coordination with the cost technologies leadership team. Drives initiatives to improve the effectiveness of the Engineering function and interfaces with other functions to provide effective coordination of metrics, dashboards, functional processes, and cross-functional initiative coordination. Impacts the team's ability to achieve service, quality and timeliness of objectives. High levels of operational judgment are required to achieve outcomes required.

Job Description

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Responsible for managing Operations Strategy, Services Engineering Cost/Productivity metrics, many of which will be cross-functional and/or cross-organizational, including creation of more effective process tracking.

  • With the team, work together to develop Weekly Operating Rhythm (WOR) and Monthly Operating Rhythm (MOR) metrics and continued management with coordination from multiple internal (i.e. Engineering) and external (i.e. Product Line) stakeholder inputs

  • Represent Services Engineering in front of both internal (i.e. Engineering) and external (i.e. Product Line) stakeholders requiring strong communication and presentational skills to ensure accurate reception of data and status

  • Coaches, drives and leads lean behaviors, principles, and tools across an operational or functional area. Drives capability, process and cultural transformation resulting in step-change in operational usage of Cost metrics for Services Engineering.

  • Develop specialized knowledge in their discipline. Serves as best practice/quality resource. Has awareness of latest technical developments in own area. Contributes towards broader business operational strategy and policy development and ensure delivery within area of responsibility. Interprets simple internal and external business challenges and recommends best practices to improve products, processes or services. Stays informed of industry trends that may inform work. Uses high level of judgment to make decisions and handle complex tasks or problems in areas of operational, product management, manufacturing, technology or engineering. Has ability to assess quality of information given and ask pertinent questions to stakeholders. Able to offer new solutions to problems outside of set parameters and is able to construct and provide recommendations. Uses multiple internal and some external sources outside of own function to help arrive at a decision.

  • May lead functional teams or projects with minimal resource requirements, risk, and/or complexity. Communicates difficult concepts and may influence others' options on particular topics. May guide others to consider a different point of view.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering from an accredited university or college

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in Engineering Operations

Desired Characteristics

  • Master's degree in engineering from an accredited university or college

  • Strong interpersonal and leadership skills.

  • Demonstrated ability to analyze and resolve problems.

  • Demonstrated ability to lead programs / projects.
