Working at our Vandalia Facilities :

Our Vandalia facility is located 50 minutes north of the GE Aerospace headquarters and sits just north of the city of Dayton—known widely as the birthplace of aviation—where the Wright Brothers built the world’s first aircraft in their bicycle shop in the heart of downtown Dayton. This business boasts a rich history, in operation for over 100 years. At over 140,000 square feet, the Vandalia facility rests on 25 acres right off Interstate 75.

At GE Aerospace in Vandalia, we specialize in manufacturing and servicing world-class power generation and electrical control and distribution equipment for a variety of military and commercial customers. Vandalia is also home to a product development lab where operators and engineers work together to invent the future of flight.

Role Overview:

This position uses high speed balancing equipment and mills to produce precision balanced aerospace rotors. This is followed up using spin test automation which verifies the quality the rotor prior to installation within an aircraft generator.

  • Responsible to manage work in process material for this cell.

  • Machine setup, running rotors though the balancing and spin test equipment at rate.

  • Training new employees as necessary.

  • Working with engineers to develop programs and protocols for spin test profiles and balance strategies.

  • Support the implementation of hardware and software including alerting and monitoring, automation, service management, infrastructure and software.

  • Keep the business running through system maintenance, support and monitoring of hardware and software including proactive identification to address potential anomalies.

  • Analyzes equipment failures to determine root cause of failures.

  • Identify areas to improve equipment performance and reliability.

  • Assists with other maintenance department personnel as needed.

The Ideal Candidate:

The candidate will be required to have both mechanical aptitude as well as technical capabilities as they will be performing light machining as well as setting up and monitoring automation.

Required Qualifications:

  • Must have a HS Diploma or GED

  • Minimum of 1 year experience machining on manual mills (such as Bridgeport Knee Mills), drill presses and grinders.

  • Capability to to pass a hands on assessment operating a manual mill and measuring equipment during the interview.

  • Expertise in measuring equipment with respect to height gages, indicators, and calipers at a minimum.

  • Ability to read engineering and design drawings

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Preferred candidates will be able to operate lathes and other machinist equipment.

Additional Information:

  • Pay is $19.39 per hour for 1st Shift, plus 5.5% Shift Dif for 2nd & 9.5% Shift Dif for 3rd Shifts

  • Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds repetitively, occasionally lift up to 35 pounds non-repetitively, and sometimes lift over 35 pounds with assistance

  • Conform to all EHS guidelines including, but not limited to, wearing proper PPE; Work in an area where there may be moderate noise intensity (85 to 89.9 dBa) and areas where hearing protection is required; Work in an area where, due to normal machining operations, there may be dust, fumes, or smoke (not over OSHA Permissible Exposure Levels)

  • Training on 1st Shift will be required
