We are seeking a highly experienced technical leader to fill the Advanced Concepts & Prototyping Manager role. The qualified individual is a passionate people leader and an experienced mechanical and/or systems engineer with demonstrated success delivering complex aerospace systems on aggressive schedules. This leader is motivated to create novel aerospace platforms and systems to demonstrate and mature technologies to propel the future of flight at GE Aerospace Research. The Advanced Concepts & Prototyping Manager partners with the Technology Directors, Research Programs Office, and Chief Engineers to identify and deliver platforms and systems required to advance low technology readiness level (TRL 2) technology to TRL 5+. Job Description
As the Advanced Concepts & Prototyping Technology Manager, you are responsible for
Working closely with the Technology Directors and staff, Research Programs Office, GE Aerospace partners, and key customers/stakeholders to develop and test novel platforms and systems to demonstrate and mature Aerospace Research technologies
Leading a team of engineers and technicians to deliver platforms and systems to physically test and demonstrate novel Aerospace Research technologies to mature their technology readiness level
Developing and coaching team members on career paths, project management, and Lean principles
Fostering an open and collaborative environment to reinforce a culture of cross-discipline teaming and a bias towards action
Driving EHS standard operating procedures and best practices, security compliance, and collaborate with leaders and technologists across GE Aerospace Research to continuously improve our culture of safety and compliance
Establishing and growing strategic relationships with the Aerospace Research trades, supply chain, and partners to de-risk programs
Executing a recruiting and hiring strategy to attract and retain diverse world-class technical talent
Championing all relevant modeling, simulation, and test capabilities to drive technical differentiation and innovation for future demonstration platforms and systems
Delivering operational excellence, identification and mitigation of risks, and supporting root cause/corrective action plans, when necessary, while driving continuous improvement through standard work, key performance indicators, and process improvements
Actively participating and contributing to the GE Aerospace Research people leader community, helping to drive a culture of collaboration and innovation
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s Degree in Aerospace or Mechanical Engineering, or related discipline with a minimum of 10 years of experience in thermal management, fluid-thermal systems, or closely related discipline
Demonstrated track record of championing compliance and safety practices
Demonstrated ability to collaborate across an organization
Demonstrated commitment to continuous improvement and learning
Demonstrated ability to coach and/or mentor technical talent at all experience levels
Demonstrated ability to achieve operational excellence
Demonstrated technical project leadership capability with ability to build, lead, and energize cross-functional teams in high-impact technologies
Demonstrated ability to manage entire project scope, including: design, build, deliver, and test complex systems on aggressive schedules
Experience with US government sponsored research programs
Experience and willingness to be “hands-on” when required
Willingness to obtain active US Government Secret Clearance with ability to attain a Top-Secret Clearance; prerequisite for a security clearance is U.S. citizenship
Must be willing to work out of an office located in Niskayuna, NY
Must be 18 years or older

Desired Characteristics:
Master’s Degree in Aerospace or Mechanical Engineering, or related technical discipline, with a minimum of 7 years’ experience in aerospace systems, physical prototyping, and/or testing environments
Passion for aerospace applications and innovation of enabling technologies
Biased towards action
Strong ability to work in complex matrix organization
Working knowledge of the GE Aerospace business and the aerospace industry
Experience with Model Based Engineering / Model Based Systems Engineering theory, tools, and implementation
Experience with physical testing best practices
Ability to work across all functions/levels as part of a team
Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Excellent interpersonal skills and proven ability to inspire excellence and stimulate change
The base pay range for this position is 100,000 - 205,000 USD Annually. The specific pay offered may be influenced by a variety of factors, including the candidate’s experience, education, and skill set. This position is also eligible for an annual discretionary bonus based on a percentage of your base salary. This posting is expected to close on August 1, 2024
