Job Description Summary

The On Wing Support CVG Powerplant Engineer, based in Northern Kentucky, will be responsible for the technical standard by which we achieve conforming repairs of our customers’ fleets. This person will become a member of the Engineering department, and while mostly autonomous, there will be opportunities where candidates will be required to take direction from the site’s Engineering Lead.

This site performs maintenance on GE/CFM commercial aircraft engines in the field and in shop. As such, the Engineer will interpret the aircraft maintenance manual, engine shop manual, customer requests, and other approved technical data into actions or an actionable digital format (SAP) that can be completed locally and within the bounds of the quality system. This is achieved through workscoping; router management; process standardization; SB applicability and configuration decision-making by engine serial number; tooling, facility, and workstation setup; and escalations (Departure Records and DICAs) to PSE.

Job Description

Essential Responsibilities :

The OWS CVG Engineer will be responsible for the engineering benchmark associated with the manufacturing (disassembly, repair, and assembly) process and the industrialization and eventual standardization of the shop’s repair processes including workscope and workstation preparedness.

The initial responsibility of this OWS Engineer will be the incorporation of the LEAP engine line into the CVG facility, with a focus on tooling and work bay setup and management.

GE On Wing Support is a 24 / 7 / 365 operation. Applicants must be willing and able to support calls during off-hours when emergency situations arise.

In addition, the On Wing Support CVG Engineer will:

  • Provide technical leadership to shop operations, Quality Control, etc. regarding: workscope and evaluation for engines and/or components; service bulletins; modifications; configuration; new repair techniques for engines assigned. Establish tollgates to ensure compliance.

  • Be responsible for shop’s integration and execution of Service Bulletins, Airworthiness Directives, Special Procedures, and regular and unscheduled maintenance tasks to ensure Regulatory, Customer, and OEM requirements have been satisfied.

  • Receive engine-specific workscopes, special work orders, repair order, etc. from CTP, product engineering and / or customers, evaluate, and translate into enterprise tool. Convert incoming records for workscope applicability and configuration management.

  • Develop, in detail, methods procedures that include tooling, adapters, special equipment requirements and their application, processing techniques to repair, and ultimately the step sequence methodology in which tasks should be completed in accordance with approved data. Identify special check procedures plus additional information as required. Work on a global team to create, regularly review, and improve these global routers. Translate output into enterprise system.

  • Partner with production and planning teams to coordinate workscopes, etc. to effectively complete engine repairs in the shop or at offsite locations throughout the world

  • Initiate DRs/DICAs and follow through disposition. Engage Product Support Engineering and/or other resources to eliminate fleet issues.

  • Provides necessary equipment and tooling engineering support as required. Anticipate and respond to identified needs, both immediate and projected. Work to assure efficient operations by providing necessary services and planning. Maintain / organize facility and tooling as required. Introduce new tooling and advanced technology to improve the repair process. Instruct technician group in tooling usage as required.

  • Liaison across multiple departments include both the internal team and customers to ensure seamless service and work scope execution.

  • Assure proper documentation of technical data generated for the assigned projects and tasks. Ensure consistency with engineering policies and procedures, and customer requirements

  • Monitor and communicate project status, business issues and significant developments

  • Participate in problem-solving process. Perform as a problem-solver, as necessary, to ensure adherence to quality and schedules.

  • Support Quality activities related to defect investigations and corrective action implementation from a technical perspective.

  • Understand appropriate Aircraft Maintenance Manual, Engine Shop Manual procedures.

  • Demonstrate required knowledge of OWS Quality Procedures, as well as FAA/EASA Part 145 requirements and procedures. Act in accordance with the site’s Repair Station and Quality Control Manual and other applicable regulation/bounds.

  • Deliver “all-hands on deck” support for AOGs (Aircraft On Ground) as they arise.

  • Contribute and take direction in a small team with many stakeholders locally and globally.

  • Availability to work flexible shift patterns as required, including nights, weekends and holidays.

Minimum Requirements :

  • Bachelors degree from an accredited college or university and 3+ years of experience with aircraft engine maintenance, aircraft engine troubleshooting, and/or aircraft engine assembly (or a minimum high school diploma / GED with an additional 4+ years of experience with aircraft engine maintenance, aircraft engine troubleshooting, and/or aircraft engine assembly).

  • 3+ years of experience with common overhaul documentation (aircraft maintenance manuals, engines manuals, SBs, etc.) is required.

Desired Characteristics :

  • Applicants will be familiar with quick-turn aircraft engine maintenance, repair and field services, operations of a FAR-145 Repair Station and preferably hold a Federal Airframe and Power plant Mechanic (A&P) license.

  • Holds previous LEAP, GE90, CFM, CF6, CF34, and GENX experience. This knowledge to include Line maintenance, engine changes, module removal & installation, and/or LRU removals and installations.

  • Approaches work with a “can-do” attitude and a sense of commitment to both the team and customer objectives.

  • Possess a desire to learn and grow with technology advancements and new engine models.

  • Features strong interpersonal and leadership skills, including problem-solving ability.
