Job Description Summary

The CMC Lead Manufacturing Engineer will lead the strategic management of process development, improvements, stability, and growth across Commercial and Military product lines to meet site goals. The CMC Lead Manufacturing Engineer will develop and utilize processes that assure the highest quality products at the lowest possible cost, delivered in accordance with schedule commitments. The CMC Lead Manufacturing Engineer will be the key contributor, from contributions to blueprint development through completed parts, as related to the machining process. The CMC Lead Manufacturing Engineer will work collaboratively with Process Engineering, Quality Engineering, Operations and Design, as well as cross-site collaboration with external stakeholders.

Roles and Responsibilities

The CMC Lead Manufacturing Engineer is part of our advanced Ceramic Matrix Composite (CMC) Development Lab in our Supply Chain division. This role applies hands-on experience to support development and production activities related to the critical CMC machining process from router release to final shipment. Responsibilities include:

  • Ownership for all aspects of conventional machining process engineering for various components and projects.

  • Interface with design engineering to ensure producibility of target product.

  • Development of conventional machining processes capable of delivering to customer designs and drawings.

  • Interfacing with the operations team to ensure timely delivery of hardware.

  • Utilize Siemens NX Software to interrogate and evaluate 3D models for machining approaches, tool design and development of CNC toolpath.

  • Development of clear and usable planning documentation for the process technicians.

  • Interfacing with inspection engineers to develop inspection process capable of delivering accurate inspection information for their process.

  • Acts as a resource for colleagues with less experience. May lead small projects with low risks and resource requirements.

  • The role has some autonomy but is focused on execution of activities within an operating discipline.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree accredited college or university (or a high school diploma / GED with a minimum of 5 years of CAD/CAM experience)

  • Minimum of 3 years of CAD/CAM experience .

Desired Characteristics

  • 2-5 years’ experience in conventional machining/grinding process engineering.

  • 2-5 years’ experience with Siemens NX CAD/CAM or equivalent transferrable skills from similar systems.

  • Experience with one or multiple types of machine tool equipment and controls.

  • Strong oral and written communication skills. Demonstrated ability to analyze and resolve problems. Ability to document, plan, market, and execute programs.

  • Established project management skills.
