Job Description Summary

The Metrology Inspection Engineer is responsible for the design, operation and implementation of inspection processes for evaluation of complex additive geometries, and hardware. This individual will successfully design and implement metrology programs from 3D scanning and CMM data, and work within an interdisciplinary team to incorporate the results into process development and industrialization efforts. Job Description

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Execute, design and mature metrology programs for internal and external features of hardware

  • Develop, configure and optimize industrial inspection processes from inception through certification.

  • Work collaboratively with design, process development, and product definition engineers in aligning component geometric requirements with nondestructive inspection technologies

  • Compile and analyze inspection results to assess process capability through basic statistics, run charts, control charts, etc.

  • Assess processes, take measurements, interpret data, and document results including inspection reports that visualize actual part dimensions compared to CAD model

  • Communicate project outcomes to cross-functional team

  • Lead projects intended to design, run, test and upgrade systems and processes

  • Develop best practices, routines and innovative solutions to improve technology and processes related to non-destructive inspection technologies.

  • Develop and audit process specific work instructions, and standard operation procedure

  • Provide process documentation and operating instructions

  • Collaborate to develop tooling/fixtures for inspection equipment

  • Lead Site Software Quality Assurance Program

  • Schedule Calibration and PMs of Metrology Equipment

  • Leverage standard naming conventions for meteorology programs

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or institution (or a high school diploma / GED with a minimum of 4 years' experience in Engineering and or/ Manufacturing

  • A minimum of 3 years experience in Engineering, Metrology, and/or Manufacturing

Desired Characteristics:

  • 3+ years' experience with PolyWorks, PCDIMS, GOM Inspector, or similar 3D metrology programming experience.

  • In-depth GD&T measurements inspection experience with formal training and/or certification.

  • Aukom or other recognized metrologist certification.

  • Experience with CAD (NX preferred)

  • Strong ability in understanding complex design drawings.
