Job Description Summary

As an Aftermarket Supervisor, you are at the very heart of our operational activity where you will need to draw upon your skills and experience in visibly leading your assigned team of repair technicians to meet the obligations of our Maintenance and Repair Organisation (MRO). Most importantly, the role is pivotal in maintaining the Aftermarket Value Stream’s ceaseless commitment to Safety, Quality, and Regulatory Compliance.

The MRO is aligned to GE Aerospace's principles and holds Safety as its top priority, be that personal or product based, and our supervisors are charged with championing and maintaining the required safety standards within their area of responsibility.

Quality of product and process, as ever, is the next priority with the post holder acting as an advocate for both at all times.

As the Aftermarket Supervisor you will lead a team of approximately 24 people and will need to use your experience and expertise in this MRO environment to deliver against our operationally focused Repair Plan Targets (daily to annually) for our multiple Customers.

In meeting these priorities, the post holder will be expected to draw upon the skill and expertise within their team to identify and solve problems, develop workable solutions and to invoke a culture of continuous improvement. They will be required to competently extract, analyse and present business data to inform timely decisions.

An Aftermarket Supervisor must be able to confidently communicate with their team and across supporting functions, whilst ensuring the promotion of a ‘one team’ ethos.

To achieve success in the Facilitator role you will:

  • Provide day-to-day operational leadership and management, focused on the achievement of assigned goals with respect to Safety, Quality, OTD, Cost, People Leadership and Compliance.

  • Promote a Safety-First culture whilst delivering the highest Quality products to maintain our airworthiness requirements.

  • Ensure equipment calibration and safety Inspections validity is always maintained.

  • Work cross-functionally to resolve near-term challenges and mitigate the risk they present to meeting our customer commitments.

  • Ensure communication of key business and customer information to your personnel and inspire them to achieve the highest levels of output.

  • Tightly maintain the elements of the Value Stream budget you are assigned through achieving cost-effective operational delivery of the Value Stream metrics (Bowler performance) and facilitating the flow of output to meet our Master Maintenance Plan.

  • Punctually undertake the administrative management of your Team (eg labour voucher accounting, vacation approval, absence management, performance management and health surveillance).

  • Select, hire, train, and develop assigned personnel against workshop requirements aligned with agreed business unit headcount.

  • Foster a culture of Continuous Improvement within your Team and employ the appropriate methodology e.g. Go to Gemba to inform any improvement opportunities across the workshop.

  • Actively encourage the flow of Continuous Improvement ideas from your team to identify cost out and process improvement opportunities – act decisively and provide timely feedback with the information you receive from your team.

  • Identify process constraints and bottlenecks, then assist in developing strategies to mitigate any output risks.

  • Support the Operation and Value Stream Leaders in delivering the strategic plans for manpower, equipment and other resources within the business.

Qualifications / Requirement

  • Leadership experience and/or leadership quality

  • Experience in an aerospace maintenance or highly regulated business.

  • Good supply chain knowledge

  • Competent user of the MS Office application, especially MS Excel.

  • Strong analytical skills

  • Strong interpersonal skills.

  • Strong oral and written communication.

  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy.

  • Ability to balance multiple competing priorities under tight deadlines.

  • Ability to influence across a functional Matrix.
