Job Description Summary

The role is that of Intellectual Property (IP) Analyst in GE Aerospace located in Bangalore. As an Intellectual Property (IP) Analyst, you will work in cross-functional teams of technologists, IP Strategy team, IP Intelligence team, and IP Counsels to develop and execute IP strategy for the business. In this role, you will execute IP Analytics (with limited guidance) in the domains of metals & alloys, coatings, composites and additive. Search and analyze IP and Non-IP literature and utilize your technical experience and expertise to provide insights to help drive the IP Strategy for the business.

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Searching, analyzing, and compiling technical, commercial, and patent information using a variety of free and subscribed databases which will provide insights to technologists, Leadership, and legal team.

  • Providing various types of analyses, such as those for patent / technology landscape, patentability of inventions, SWOT analysis, and freedom to practice landscapes. Candidate will be provided limited guidance, especially in complex analysis, as required.

  • In-depth understanding of key business drivers; uses this understanding to accomplish own work.

  • Developing in-depth knowledge of a technical discipline. Uses prior experience and acquired technical expertise to execute.

  • Present analysis and recommendations in a concise and actionable manner

  • Proactively anticipating events that impact customer deliverables and manage them. Deliver on projects within fixed timelines

Required Qualifications

  • BE/MTech/MS in Mechanical/Aerospace/Materials Engineering or related domain, with minimum 6 years experience in engineering / research / IP analysis.

  • Willingness to learn and build expertise in Intellectual Property Analytics methods and tools

  • Strong analytical skills

  • Ability to work with global teams & possess excellent communication skills

  • Ability to work independently as well as in team environment

  • Passion for technology and excellence

Desired Characteristics

  • Working knowledge of patent law and experience in IP analysis.

  • Familiarity with additive technologies, and materials used in gas turbines

  • Basic understanding of jet engine working and its components

  • Lean mindset to automate/simplify processes. Experience/willingness to learn automation methods/tools (eg: Excel Macros, Machine Learning based methods)
